Lady Eagles Secure Road Win at York

York, NE —
The Oklahoma Wesleyan University women's basketball team earned a 71–59 road victory over York University on Saturday afternoon at the Freeman Center, improving to 7–11 overall and 2–10 in conference play.

Oklahoma Wesleyan set the tone early with strong defensive pressure, holding York to just eight points in the opening quarter while building a 19–8 lead. York responded in the second quarter with improved shooting and energy, but the Lady Eagles maintained control and carried a 33–26 advantage into halftime.

The Lady Eagles came out of the locker room with renewed focus in the third quarter, matching York's physicality and regaining momentum on both ends of the floor. Oklahoma Wesleyan extended its lead to 52–38 behind timely shooting and defensive stops. York made a final push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to six late, but the Lady Eagles stayed composed, converting free throws and forcing turnovers down the stretch to secure the win.

Kamryn Phoenix led Oklahoma Wesleyan with 16 points, while Khamille Warr added 16 points on efficient shooting. Sophia Regalado contributed 14 points, and Gracie Alexander finished with 13 points and six steals. The Lady Eagles forced 27 turnovers and scored 28 points off those turnovers, which proved to be a key factor in the road victory.

The Lady Eagles return to action Wednesday with another road contest in Missouri against Evangel University.
