After a January snow storm, the Lady Eagles basketball team switched up their Saturday game times for a Monday midday contest with the Tabor College Bluejays. Looking at two even teams in conference, both teams entered with a 8-12 record on the year, while Tabor College edged out the Lady Eagles with a 6-8 KCAC record. Looking to gain some confidence heading into the later half of conference play, the Lady Eagles started out fast and maintained the pace throughout the 40 minutes of play.Â
A dead 14-14 tie after the first, gave way to an excited second quarter. Edging out the Lady Bluejays in the second quarter, the Lady Eagles went ahead 26-24 to end the first half. The third led to another tight quarter with both teams scoring 13 in 10 minutes, concluding the 3rd with a score of 39-37 in favor of the Lady Eagles. A crucial final 10 minutes led to the Lady Eagles coming to life.Â
Sophia Regalado was a show stopper in the final quarter of play; forcing turnovers and quick jump shots in the paint led to a 15 point game for the junior. Following closely, Kassidy Warr was excellent for the Lady Eagles, scoring 13 of the lady Eagles 59 points.Â
The Lady Eagles move to 3-11 in conference play with the win over the Lady Bluejays! The Lady Eagles are back in Mueller for a quick turn around this upcoming Wednesday for a 5:00pm tip-off against the Avila University Lady Eagles.Â
