No. 24 Lady Eagles Shut Out Tabor on Senior Day

Women's Soccer

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer continued its strong run through conference play Saturday afternoon, controlling the match from the opening whistle en route to a 2-0 shutout victory over Tabor College at home. The win moved the Lady Eagles to 6-2-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in KCAC play.

OKWU wasted little time establishing itself in the attacking third. After generating early pressure, Macy Butler delivered the breakthrough in the eighth minute, finding the back of the net at the 7:53 mark to give the Lady Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.

From there, Oklahoma Wesleyan dictated the tempo and maintained sustained possession in Tabor's defensive half. The Lady Eagles peppered the Bluejay back line with 16 first-half shots, forcing Tabor goalkeeper Neve Mulrooney into 10 saves before the break. Despite the constant pressure, OKWU entered halftime holding a 1-0 advantage.

The Lady Eagles came out of the interval with the same attacking mentality, pushing numbers forward and continuing to create chances in front of goal. OKWU's pressure paid off again in the 59th minute when Ashley Perez connected with Frederikke Nielsen, who finished the opportunity to double the advantage at 58:41.

Nielsen was a constant threat throughout the afternoon, leading the Lady Eagles with 10 shots, including six on frame, while Isabelle Simoneau added seven attempts and five shots on goal. Kirsten Bruhns also generated six shots, placing five on target, as OKWU continually tested the Tabor defense.

Oklahoma Wesleyan's back line was equally impressive. The Lady Eagles limited Tabor to just six total shots and two shots on goal across the full 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Leona Kraus turned away both attempts on frame to secure the clean sheet, while OKWU's defensive unit prevented Tabor from earning a single corner kick.

The final statistics reflected Oklahoma Wesleyan's command of the run of play. The Lady Eagles finished with a dominant 38-6 advantage in total shots and a 23-2 edge in shots on goal. OKWU also generated five corner kicks compared with none for the Bluejays. Tabor's goalkeeper was forced into 20 saves as the Lady Eagles consistently worked the ball into dangerous areas.

Saturday's result continued an impressive stretch for Oklahoma Wesleyan, which has now posted five consecutive conference victories without conceding a goal. The Lady Eagles have outscored their opponents 29-0 during that five-match KCAC winning streak, combining a clinical attack with a back line that has consistently denied opposing chances.

With another clean sheet and three more points secured, the Lady Eagles remain unbeaten in conference play as they continue their push through the KCAC schedule.
