No. 24 Lady Eagles Secure 3-1 Victory Over Friends University

Women's Soccer

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer continued its impressive run of form Wednesday evening, securing a 3-1 victory over Friends University at the OKWU Sports Complex. Behind a first-half brace from Ana Chaves and a second-half insurance goal from Macy Butler, the Lady Eagles controlled the attacking tempo and defended their home pitch in another strong conference performance.

Oklahoma Wesleyan wasted little time establishing its offensive presence, pressing high up the pitch and creating opportunities in the attacking third. The Lady Eagles broke through in the 14th minute when Ana Chaves found the back of the net, giving OKWU an early 1-0 advantage.

The Lady Eagles continued to dictate possession and apply pressure to the Falcons' back line. Chaves struck again in the 38th minute, completing her brace and doubling Oklahoma Wesleyan's advantage heading into the halftime break. OKWU outshot Friends 9-2 in the opening 45 minutes, showcasing its attacking efficiency and defensive organization.

Friends University responded shortly after the restart, as Taylor Dill capitalized on an opportunity in the 50th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Despite the Falcons gaining momentum, Oklahoma Wesleyan remained composed, maintaining its shape defensively while continuing to push forward in search of another goal.

The Lady Eagles delivered the decisive response in the 70th minute when Macy Butler finished an attacking sequence off an assist from Isabelle Simoneau, restoring OKWU's two-goal cushion. Butler's finish provided the insurance the Lady Eagles needed to put the match out of reach.

Oklahoma Wesleyan finished the contest with an 18-11 advantage in total shots, placing 13 attempts on frame compared to six for Friends. The Lady Eagles also dominated set-piece opportunities, earning 10 corner kicks while limiting the Falcons to just three.

Defensively, OKWU remained disciplined throughout the match, with its back line limiting dangerous opportunities and its goalkeeper contributing to a five-save team performance. The Lady Eagles' ability to transition from defense into attack proved instrumental in maintaining control of the contest.

Chaves led the offensive charge with two goals, while Butler added the third tally. Simoneau contributed an assist, helping highlight a balanced Oklahoma Wesleyan attack.

With the victory, the Lady Eagles improved to 9-2-2 overall, continuing to build momentum as the conference season progresses. Oklahoma Wesleyan's combination of clinical finishing, organized defending, and sustained pressure in the final third proved to be the difference as the Lady Eagles secured another important result on their home turf.
