Softball Dominates in Home Opener vs. Crowley’s Ridge

Bartlesville, OK —

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles opened their home schedule in dominant fashion Thursday afternoon, hosting Crowley's Ridge College for a doubleheader and coming away with a pair of run-rule victories. The Eagles delivered an explosive performance at the plate and in the circle to begin their home slate with a strong showing.

Game 1
The Lady Eagles wasted no time setting the tone in their home opener, securing a 12–2 run-rule victory in the first game of the day.

Crowley's Ridge struck first in the opening inning, but Oklahoma Wesleyan responded quickly with four runs of its own to take control. The Eagles broke the game open in the second inning with a seven-run surge fueled by extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning.

Maria Fory sparked the offense with two doubles and two RBIs, while Isabella Salas drove in three runs. Brooklyn Purtell, Kami Withem, Maddie Ogle, Lailah Hernandez, and Abby Huie each contributed RBIs as the Eagles totaled 11 hits in a strong all-around performance at the plate.

In the circle, Gabby Simpson got the start and earned the win, working four strong innings while allowing just one run and keeping Crowley's Ridge in check. Lili Otero came in to close out the final inning, helping secure the run-rule victory for the Lady Eagles in their home opener.

Game 2
Oklahoma Wesleyan carried that momentum into game two of the doubleheader, earning another run-rule win with a 12–0 shutout.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead with a five-run first inning and continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Raegan Rector delivered a standout performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles. Maddie Ogle added a two-RBI double, while Kami Withem and Brooklyn Purtell also contributed RBIs as the Eagles continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

OKWU added runs in the second and fourth innings to extend the lead, finishing with 12 runs on eight hits while keeping the pressure on offensively.

Yina Vargas delivered a dominant performance in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout. Vargas allowed just three hits while striking out eight to keep Crowley's Ridge off the scoreboard and secure the second run-rule win of the day.

Oklahoma Wesleyan returns to action Friday as they continue their series against Crowley's Ridge in Bartlesville.
