WINFIELD, KS —
OKWU women's basketball earned a strong 66-53 road win over Southwestern College on Wednesday evening, using a dominant second half to secure the victory.
After holding a narrow 24–20 lead at halftime, the Eagles broke the game open with a 23-point third quarter, fueled by efficient shooting and inside presence. OKWU shot 57.9% from the floor in the period and out-rebounded the Moundbuilders 11-6 to take full control.
Ashlyn Baker provided a major spark, scoring 12 points on an efficient 4-for-6 shooting while adding four rebounds, three assists, and a block. Sophia Regalado matched her with 12 points off the bench, consistently finishing around the rim and providing key baskets in every quarter. Gracie Alexander added 10 points, and the Warr sisters—Khassidy (9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and Khamille (8 points, 7 rebounds)—controlled the paint on both ends.
OKWU's depth proved decisive as the bench contributed 27 points, nearly doubling Southwestern's production. The Eagles also dominated second-chance points 22-9, converting 14 offensive rebounds into momentum-shifting scores.
Defensively, OKWU held Southwestern to just 33.9% shooting and only 5-for-26 from three-point range. The Eagles' balanced attack and strong rebounding proved too much to overcome.
Next for the Lady Eagles, they will face off against Sterling on February 7th, at 1:00 PM at home. Go Eagles!
