OKWU Takes the Series Facing Off Against Friends University at Home 2-1

BARTLESVILLE, OK —

Game 1: Oklahoma Wesleyan Opens Series With 5–2 Win Over Friends University

Oklahoma Wesleyan rode a dominant complete-game performance from A. Garcia and a momentum-shifting seventh inning to take Game 1 of its three-game series against Friends University, winning 5–2.

Friends struck early, plating single runs in the first and second innings. The Falcons' early push was highlighted by an RBI double in the first and a run-scoring single in the second. But after that, A. Garcia settled in and controlled the game. The right-hander scattered nine hits over nine innings, allowing just two earned. He needed only 101 pitches to finish the job.

OKWU answered immediately in the first with an RBI double from shortstop J. Maloney, who later became the offensive catalyst. After tying the game 2–2 in the fifth, the Eagles broke things open in the seventh. J. Maloney's sharp ground ball resulted in a two-run error, scoring both runners and giving OKWU its first lead of the day. One batter later, D. Bailey added an RBI groundout to push the advantage to 5–2.

D. Manzanillo fueled the Eagles' offense with a perfect 2-for-2 day, reaching base three times and scoring twice. Caden Stinson also added two hits.

With the win, Oklahoma Wesleyan takes a 1–0 lead in the weekend series.

Game 2: Oklahoma Wesleyan Outlasts Friends in 17–16 Slugfest at Home

In one of the most dramatic and high-scoring games of the season, Oklahoma Wesleyan University outdueled Friends University 17–16 on Saturday afternoon, walking off in the bottom of the ninth to secure a thrilling home victory.

The Eagles poured on 18 hits, including six home runs, to overcome an explosive Friends offense that posted 21 hits of its own. Both lineups traded momentum all game, combining for 33 total runs in the back-and-forth slugfest.

OKWU found key swings from W. Diaz, J. Maloney, J. Gutierrez, and C. Stinson helped the Eagles storm back. W. Diaz led the way with a monster performance — 3-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI — while J. Gutierrez added a homer and four RBI of his own.

Friends tied the game 12–12 in the eighth and later took a 16–14 lead in the ninth behind a grand slam. But the Eagles refused to fold. D. Bailey sparked the final rally with a pinch-hit home run, and after a L. Antigua single, D. Manzanillo launched a two-run walk-off homer to deliver the victory for the home crowd.

On the mound, Jacob Morgan earned the win, improving to 3–0 after closing the door in the top of the ninth.

With the win, Oklahoma Wesleyan moves to 16–10 on the season, capturing an unforgettable Game 2 victory in the series and showcasing one of the most resilient offensive performances of the year.

Game 3: Oklahoma Wesleyan Falls 9–5 in Series Finale, Takes Two of Three Against Friends

After back-to-back offensive explosions in the first two games of the series, Oklahoma Wesleyan University came up short in the finale on Saturday afternoon, dropping Game 3 by a 9–5 score to Friends University. Despite the loss, the Eagles closed the weekend with a 2–1 series win.

Friends struck early, putting up two runs in the opening inning before erupting for four more in the second, highlighted by a grand slam. The Falcons added solo home runs as their offense built a 7–2 lead through four innings.

OKWU attempted to chip away, powered by home runs from C. Stinson and G. Morales, with G. Morales going 3-for-4 and finishing just a triple shy of the cycle. D. Bailey also delivered an RBI single off the bench as the Eagles tightened the gap to 7–4 in the fourth.

Friends, however, capitalized on late opportunities, plating two more in the sixth—helped by walks and a passed ball—to stretch the lead to 9–4. A seventh-inning RBI single brought the Eagles within 9–5, but OKWU could not generate further offense down the stretch.

On the mound, Ashton Luera took the loss, Kohen Hudson-Leggett worked the final two innings for the Eagles in relief.

Though the finale slipped away, Oklahoma Wesleyan's strong performances in Games 1 and 2 secured a series victory and continued the Eagles' offensive momentum heading deeper into March play.
