OKWU Baseball Take Series Facing Off Against Mcpherson at Home

Game 1: Eagles Outlast McPherson in Wild 11–10 Win to Open Series 

OKWU baseball opened its three-game series against McPherson with a dramatic 11–10 walk-off victory on Friday afternoon, rallying in the ninth inning to secure the win at home. 

The Eagles' offense was explosive throughout the day, racking up 17 hits, including home runs from L. Antigua, W. Diaz, and J. Maloney. L. Antigua led the charge with a 3-for-5 performance, scoring three times and driving in two, including the game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.  

After entering the final inning trailing 10–8, the Eagles mounted a decisive rally. J. Parreno earned a singled to score in a run making it 10–9, and after advancing on the bases and a passed ball, he scored making the score even moments later. L. Antigua then delivered a clutch RBI single up the middle to bring home Josh Hobbs and seal the comeback victory.  

OKWU built momentum with key swings. J. Maloney launched a two-run homer in the seventh to tie the game 6–6, and W. Diaz added a go-ahead two-run blast in the eighth. Diaz and Maloney each drove in multiple runs, combining for seven RBI.  

On the mound, Jacob Morgan improved to 8–0 on the season after closing the game with 1.2 innings of relief.  

Game 2: Eagles Drop Game 2 to McPherson Despite Late Push, 9–5 

After a dramatic walk-off win in Game 1, the Eagles couldn't repeat in Game 2 on Saturday, falling 9–5 to McPherson in the second matchup of the three-game series.  

McPherson's offense got hot with five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by 2 home runs turning a 2–3 lead into a 7–3 Bulldog advantage. They added two more long balls in the sixth, extending their lead and keeping the Eagles at arm's length the rest of the way.  

J. Fernandez added an RBI single in the fourth, and Gilbert Morales provided a late offensive highlight with an RBI triple in the seventh. However, OKWU struggled to generate sustained innings, grounding into two key double plays while stranding 11 runners. 

OKWU tallied seven hits on the afternoon, with J. Maloney and J. Parreno each delivering solo home runs. J. Parreno's blast came in the eighth, cutting the deficit to 9–5 and giving OKWU a spark, but the comeback effort wasn't enough. 

On the mound, G. Florio worked five innings but took the loss, allowing seven runs wiht 5 strikeouts, while A. Stephenson provided four innings of relief tacking 7 strikeouts, allowing 2 runs with 5 hits. 
 

Game 3: Eagles Storm Back Late to Win Game 3 and Take the Series Over McPherson 

OKWU capped off its three-game series with a thrilling 11–10 comeback victory over McPherson on Saturday afternoon, securing the series win behind a relentless seventh-inning surge.  

The Eagles trailed 10–6 entering the final frame but exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh, with eight straight batters reaching safely. A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to J. Parreno brought OKWU within one, and D. Bailey followed with a clutch RBI single to tie the game. Moments later, Braydon Caldwell drew a walk to force in the go-ahead run, completing the stunning comeback.  

Earlier in the game, W. Diaz set the tone with a two-run homer in the first and added an RBI double in the seventh as part of a dominant 3-for-3, 4-RBI performance. L. Antigua scored four times, while J. Gutierrez delivered two key hits, including a sacrifice fly and a seventh-inning single that helped fuel the rally.  

On the mound, A. Luera Starte for the Eagles throwing three innings and then would be relieved by Aden bothers. To close the game for the Eagles, they received steady late-game relief from A. Covarrubias, who tossed three scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 6–2 on the year.  

With the 11–10 victory, Oklahoma Wesleyan moves to 19–12 overall, 12-8 in conference, and clinches the series 2–1. The Eagles return to action next week as they continue conference play.
