Branson, MO —

The Oklahoma Wesleyan softball team continued its strong start to the season on March 5, sweeping a doubleheader against Briar Cliff (IA) in Branson, Missouri. The Lady Eagles opened the day with a 3–2 victory before completing the sweep with a 6–1 win in game two, bringing their record to 15–5 overall.

Game 1

In their opening game, Oklahoma Wesleyan rallied late to secure the 3–2 win. Briar Cliff jumped to an early lead with two runs in the second inning, but the Lady Eagles stayed composed and delivered the decisive rally in the fifth inning.

Maria Fory led the offensive effort, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Her hit in the fifth inning drove in two runs to give Oklahoma Wesleyan the lead. Kami Withem and Brooklyn Purtell each recorded two hits in the game, helping pace the Lady Eagles' six-hit performance. Lailah Hernandez also added an RBI in the contest.

In the circle, Gabby Simpson turned in a strong outing, pitching five innings while allowing just four hits and two runs and striking out seven to earn the win. Abigail Rogers closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief to secure the victory.

Game 2

The Lady Eagles carried that same momentum into game two, defeating Briar Cliff 6–1. Oklahoma Wesleyan collected 11 hits in the game, led by Brooklyn Purtell and Abby Huie, who each finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Huie also scored two runs to spark the offense.

Maria Fory drove in three RBIs, while Raegan Rector and Purtell each added an RBI as the Lady Eagles steadily built their lead. Kami Withem and Aubrie Matthews also recorded hits in the contest.

Oklahoma Wesleyan used a strong pitching rotation to control the game in the circle. Yina Vargas started the contest, allowing one run on two hits over three innings. Addison Dorsay and Madison Treadwell combined to finish the game in relief, holding the Chargers in check to secure the win.

The Lady Eagles will open conference play Tuesday, March 10, as they travel to Ottawa, Kansas, to face Ottawa University.
