OKWU Softball Sweeps Hesston on the Road

Hesston, KS —

Oklahoma Wesleyan softball picked up two more wins on Thursday, sweeping Hesston College in a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 12-2 and 13-0. With the victories, the Eagles improve to 27-9 overall on the season and continue to build momentum as the regular season progresses.

In game one, OKWU took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning before erupting for seven runs in the second to create separation. The Eagles added three more in the third to secure the 12-2 win behind a 12-hit performance. Brooklyn Purtell led the offense with three hits, while Raegan Rector drove in three runs. Maria Fory added a two-RBI double, and Bailey Gustus and Maddie Ogle each recorded multiple hits. In the circle, Lydia Polk earned the win, allowing just one run over four innings, while Kenley Salas worked in relief.

The Eagles carried that momentum into game two, plating four runs in the first inning and eight more in the second on their way to a 13-0 victory. Rector stayed hot with three hits and two RBIs, while Abby Huie added three hits and two RBIs of her own. Purtell also drove in a pair as OKWU again totaled 12 hits as a team. Madison Treadwell was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out five.

Oklahoma Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, April 11, hosting McPherson College for a conference doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
