Eagles Softball Stays Hot with Sweep over McPherson

Bartlesville, OK-
The Oklahoma Wesleyan softball team picked up a sweep over McPherson College on Saturday, winning 11-3 in game one and 8-0 in game two. With the victories, the Eagles improved to 29-9 overall and 12-4 in conference play.

In game one, OKWU's offense came out hot, scoring three runs in the first inning behind a two-run home run from Brooklyn Purtell and an RBI single from Abby Huie. The Eagles added another run in the second inning before breaking the game open in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Maria Fory. Raegan Rector led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Fory added three runs scored and two RBIs. OKWU finished with 12 hits in the 11-3 win. In the circle, Yina Vargas earned the win after allowing just two runs over four innings, while Lydia Polk closed out the game in relief.

Game two saw another dominant performance from the Eagles, both offensively and defensively. OKWU struck early with a two-RBI single from Abby Huie in the first inning and never slowed down. The Eagles added one run in the fourth before exploding for five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Huie's three-RBI triple. Huie finished the game with five RBIs, leading the offense, while Maria Fory scored three runs. Addison Dorsay was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout and striking out eight while allowing just three hits in the 8-0 victory.

The Eagles will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup Wednesday, April 15th against Bethel College.
