Hillsboro, KS —
The Oklahoma Wesleyan softball team earned a road sweep over Tabor College on Saturday, taking game one 7–4 and game two 7–5. With the two wins, the Eagles moved to 31–9 overall and 14–4 in KCAC play.
In game one, Oklahoma Wesleyan turned a mid-game deficit into a 7–4 win with a big offensive push late. After trailing midway through the game, the Eagles put together a three-run fifth inning to regain momentum, with RBI contributions from Brooklyn Purtell, Maria Fory, and Audrina Landin. Kami Withem also provided an early spark with a solo home run. OKWU added insurance in the seventh, capitalizing on scoring opportunities to extend the lead. The Eagles recorded 14 hits in the win, with Withem and Purtell each turning in strong performances at the plate. In the circle, Abigail Rogers was effective in relief, holding Tabor to one run over the final 4.1 innings.
Game two required another comeback effort, as the Eagles rallied from a 5–1 deficit to complete the sweep with a 7–5 win. OKWU began to close the gap in the sixth inning behind back-to-back home runs from Abby Huie and Gracie Jones. The Eagles then took advantage of key opportunities in the seventh, pushing across three runs to take control late. Maria Fory paced the offense with a 4-for-4 performance and three runs scored, while Huie drove in three runs. Rogers once again came through in relief, finishing the game without allowing a run.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will be back in action on Sunday, April 19, as they host Bethel College.
