Lady Eagles Open Midland Showdown Against Viterbo

Women's Volleyball

Box Score

FREMONT, Neb. — Oklahoma Wesleyan Women's Volleyball opened play at the Midland Showdown on Thursday afternoon, taking on Viterbo University (Wis.) in the first of four matches on the weekend tournament slate. The Lady Eagles continued to test themselves against strong non-conference competition as they began play in one of the NAIA's premier early-season events.

The opening match featured competitive stretches throughout as Oklahoma Wesleyan battled point-for-point with the V-Hawks. The Lady Eagles showed resilience on both sides of the ball, fighting through long rallies and continuing to compete despite facing a veteran Viterbo squad.

OKWU found momentum at several points during the match, using strong defensive efforts and balanced offensive play to keep sets within reach. The Lady Eagles continued to battle until the final point, gaining valuable experience against another nationally respected opponent early in the season.

The Midland Showdown provides Oklahoma Wesleyan with an opportunity to face some of the NAIA's top competition before conference play begins. Following Thursday's opener against Viterbo, the Lady Eagles remain in action later in the day against Northwestern (Iowa) before wrapping up the tournament Friday against Missouri Baptist and host Midland.
