FREMONT, Neb. — Oklahoma Wesleyan wrapped up day one of the Midland Showdown on Thursday evening with a tough challenge against No. 3-ranked Northwestern (Iowa), falling in straight sets after facing one of the NAIA's top programs. The Eagles closed the opening day of tournament play with an 0-2 record after earlier dropping a four-set match to Viterbo.

Northwestern established control early behind a balanced offensive attack and consistent play at the net, putting pressure on the Eagles throughout the match. Oklahoma Wesleyan battled to extend rallies and showed resilience despite the Raiders' efficient attack, but Northwestern maintained momentum from start to finish.

The Eagles continued to compete throughout the evening, with several extended rallies highlighting their determination against one of the nation's premier teams. Oklahoma Wesleyan looked to generate offensive rhythm while the Raiders capitalized on timely runs and strong defensive play to secure the victory.
 

Despite the result, the Eagles gained valuable experience against elite competition as they continue their challenging non-conference schedule. Oklahoma Wesleyan will look to regroup on Friday as the Midland Showdown continues with matches against Missouri Baptist and host Midland.
