COLUMBIA, Mo. — A tightly contested matchup between two nationally ranked programs came down to one late goal as No. 12 Grace (Ind.) edged No. 4 Oklahoma Wesleyan, 1-0, on Saturday in the Eagles' 2026 season opener.

Both defenses controlled the pace throughout the afternoon, limiting quality scoring chances. Oklahoma Wesleyan managed just two shots, with Maddyn Walker recording the Eagles' lone shot on goal. Grace finished with six shots, but the match remained scoreless until the closing minutes.

The breakthrough came in the 80th minute when Nora Pollock finished a cross from Abby Hodkin and Rosalie Gefrorer, giving the Lancers a 1-0 advantage with just over 10 minutes remaining. Oklahoma Wesleyan continued to press for an equalizer but was unable to generate another scoring opportunity before the final whistle.

Leona Kraus played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles, allowing just one goal in a strong defensive effort. Ashley Perez and Walker accounted for Oklahoma Wesleyan's two total shots, while the Eagles earned a 2-2 draw in corner kicks.

Despite the result, Oklahoma Wesleyan showed the defensive form that carried the program to the NAIA semifinals a season ago, holding a talented Grace squad in check for nearly 80 minutes. The Eagles will look to bounce back as they continue their opening stretch of non-conference play.
