JACKSON, Tenn. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer battled Lindsey Wilson College for 90 minutes Saturday, but a second-half penalty kick proved to be the difference as the Eagles fell 2-1 at USJ Field.

The Eagles outshot Lindsey Wilson 7-4 and put five attempts on frame, but were unable to find a second equalizer. Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Demi Serman finished with four saves.

Lindsey Wilson opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Alexandria Giusti found the back of the net to give the Blue Raiders an early 1-0 advantage.

Oklahoma Wesleyan responded before halftime. After entering as a substitute in the 21st minute, Ana Chaves delivered the equalizer at the 33:52 mark, scoring her first goal of the season to bring the Eagles level at 1-1.

The match remained tied entering the break, but Lindsey Wilson regained the lead early in the second half. Ashiat Naluggwa converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to put the Blue Raiders ahead 2-1.

OKWU continued to push for an equalizer. Macy Butler forced a save in the 60th minute before Frederikke Nielsen tested Serman twice, putting shots on goal in the 68th and 72nd minutes. Despite the pressure, the Eagles could not break through a second time.

Nielsen led the Eagles offensively with two shots, both on goal, while Chaves finished with the team's lone goal. Maddyn Walker and Macy Butler each added a shot on target. Overall, OKWU finished with a 7-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.

With the result, Oklahoma Wesleyan moves to 0-2-0 on the season, while Lindsey Wilson improves to 1-0-0.

The Lady Eagles are back on the field this upcoming Wednesday for their home opener against MidAmerica Nazarene at 6:00PM.
