BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer battled MidAmerica Nazarene University to a 1-1 draw Wednesday night, with the Lady Eagles holding the lead for much of the contest before the Pioneers found a late equalizer.
The two sides played a tightly contested opening half before Oklahoma Wesleyan broke through late in the period. The Lady Eagles found the opening goal in the closing minutes of the first half, taking a 1-0 advantage into the break.
OKWU carried that momentum into the second half and continued to protect its one-goal advantage. The Lady Eagles kept MidAmerica Nazarene off the scoreboard deep into the final period as the Pioneers searched for an equalizer.
MidAmerica Nazarene finally broke through in the closing minutes, leveling the match at 1-1 with less than six minutes remaining.
Neither side was able to find the go-ahead goal before the final whistle, leaving the Eagles and Pioneers with a 1-1 draw.
