BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan Women's Soccer turned in a strong offensive performance Saturday morning, defeating Missouri Valley College 4-1 at the OKWU Soccer Complex in Bartlesville.

The victory moved the Lady Eagles to 1-2-1 on the season and was powered by a two-goal performance from Frederikke Nielsen, earning the Lady Eagles their first win on the season. 

OKWU wasted little time getting on the board. Nielsen opened the scoring just 4:06 into the match, giving the Lady Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.

Oklahoma Wesleyan doubled its lead in the 24th minute, Nielsen playing a key role again, setting up Ashley Perez for the finish to make it 2-0. The Lady Eagles carried that two-goal advantage into halftime.

Missouri Valley responded quickly after the break, with Julia Richardson scoring just 53 seconds into the second half to cut OKWU's advantage to 2-1.

The Lady Eagles answered less than eight minutes later. Nielsen struck for her second goal of the match in the 54th minute, restoring OKWU's two-goal cushion at 3-1.

Oklahoma Wesleyan added another in the 64th minute when Isabelle Simoneau found the back of the net off an assist from Vanessa Krumbholz, extending the lead to 4-1 and putting the match out of reach.

Nielsen led the way for the Lady Eagles, finishing the morning with two goals and an assist. Her involvement in three of OKWU's four goals proved instrumental in the victory. Perez and Simoneau each added a goal, while Krumbholz contributed an assist.

The Lady Eagles finished with a 12-10 advantage in total shots and held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Alessandra Martinez helped secure the victory with seven saves as Missouri Valley placed eight of its 10 shots on frame.

After entering the match looking to build momentum following a 1-1 draw against MidAmerica Nazarene, Oklahoma Wesleyan responded with its highest-scoring performance of the young season.

The Lady Eagles will now turn their attention to a road matchup against John Brown University on Saturday, Sept. 12.
