BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Women's Soccer delivered a dominant performance on both ends of the pitch, rolling past Ottawa University, 8-0, at the OKWU Soccer Complex.
The Lady Eagles dictated the tempo from the opening whistle, applying immediate pressure in the attacking third and turning that early momentum into a commanding advantage. OKWU struck five times in the opening 45 minutes before adding three second-half goals to complete the shutout victory.
Isabelle Simoneau sparked the attack in the fourth minute, finding the back of the net to put the Lady Eagles in front. Just 28 seconds later, Simoneau struck again, completing a quick brace and giving OKWU a 2-0 advantage before Ottawa had an opportunity to settle into the match.
Oklahoma Wesleyan continued to press forward, and Frederikke Nielsen joined the scoring in the eighth minute after combining with Simoneau in the attacking third. Nielsen doubled her tally just five minutes later, finishing a chance created by Maddyn Walker to extend the Lady Eagles' advantage to four.
OKWU's relentless pressure continued throughout the opening half. Kirsten Bruhns provided the fifth goal in the 27th minute, finishing off another Walker assist as the Lady Eagles carried a commanding 5-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Lady Eagles remained on the front foot in the second half, controlling possession and continuing to generate opportunities in the final third.
Vanessa Krumbholz added to the advantage in the 59th minute before Nielsen completed her hat trick in the 69th. Kayla Herrera provided the service on Nielsen's third goal, capping an impressive individual performance for the OKWU attacker.
Macy Butler closed out the scoring in the 76th minute, putting away OKWU's eighth goal of the night and completing a balanced offensive performance that saw five different Lady Eagles find the back of the net.
Nielsen spearheaded the attack with a hat trick, placing three of her four shots on frame. Simoneau finished with two goals and an assist, while Walker played the role of distributor with a pair of assists.
The Lady Eagles controlled the statistical battle as well, producing a 22-6 advantage in total shots and putting 13 attempts on frame compared to four for Ottawa. OKWU also earned five corner kicks while conceding just one, further illustrating its control of territory and possession throughout the match.
While the attack provided plenty of firepower, the Lady Eagles were equally composed defensively. OKWU's back line limited Ottawa's opportunities and prevented the Braves from establishing sustained possession in dangerous areas. Alessandra Martinez handled all four shots on target to preserve the clean sheet.
The 8-0 result moves Oklahoma Wesleyan to 4-2-2 overall and 3-0-0 in conference play, as the Lady Eagles remain unbeaten through their first three conference fixtures.
With clinical finishing in front of goal, creativity through the midfield and another organized performance along the back line, OKWU put together a complete 90-minute effort and continued its strong start to conference action.
