Box Score 3 #16 Oklahoma Wesleyan University Baseball faced off against the #17 McPherson College Bulldogs for 3 game series in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Sweeping the Bulldogs, the Eagles went 3-0 on the weekend and sent the Bulldogs back home stunned.
Game 1 consisted of a 5-1 Eagles victory in 9 innings of play. Jesus Rojas lead the Eagles in hitting game 1; going 3-3 with 1 RBI. On the mound for the Eagles, Crosby Bringhurst managed to hold the Bulldogs to 1 earned run in 6 innings, with 8 strikeouts and only 7 hits. Billy Wall came into the game in the 7th innings, closing out the game and securing the victory.
Game 2 was a fight to the finish with the Eagles coming out on top 3-2. Defensively the Eagles were sound, and Andrew Grieder held the Bulldogs to 2 earned runs throughout 5 ½ innings pitched; later being relieved by Brendan Bell. Cody Muncy came out on top and led both teams offensively; going 2-4 with 2 RBI's and scoring the 3rd of 3 runs of the game.
Last but not least, Game 3 was battle up until the last out of the game; ending with a 6-5 victory in favor of the Eagles. Eric Nova and Michael Mendoza both split time on the mound for the Eagles with a combined 13 strikeouts in 9 innings of work. Mendoza finished the day with 5.1 innings pitched, allowing no runs and striking out 7 bulldogs. Danny Perez led the hitting parade throughout game 2 going 2-4 at the plate.
The Eagles now sit at 22-3 on the season, 9-1 in conference play. The Eagles are set to hit the road for their next series against the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri April 1st.
