Box Score 2 The #6 Oklahoma Wesleyan University Baseball team was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma all weekend for a conference series against the visiting Avila University Eagles. Taking 3 games from Avila, the Eagles said goodbye to regular season play, along with wishing the seniors farewell and thanking them for all they did throughout their careers in the Oklahoma Wesleyan University uniform.
Game 1 of the 3-game series was a nail biter. The 9-inning game was 1-1 throughout the first 7 innings until the OKWU Eagles jumped out in from in the 7th and 8th making it a 4-1 lead. The Avila University Eagles were eager to fight back and rallied up in the 9th inning with a two-run homerun by Trace Clinkenbeard, but it was not enough and the OKWU Eagles took the game 4-3. On the mound for the Eagles, Crosby Bringhurst, Billy Wall, and Brendan Bell split time with a combined 12 strikeouts, 3 earned runs, and only 7 hits.
Game 2 of the 3-game ended in favor of the OKWU Eagles with a win of 12-9. At the plate, Adarius Council led the OKWU Eagles going 2-4 with 2 RBI, and scored 2 runs. Defensively, Sabastian Irwin started the game on the mound; threw 6 innings with 5 strikeouts, only allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs. Closing the game for the Eagles on the mound, Brendan Bell came in and pithed 2 innings and shut down the visiting team to end the game.
The last game of 3 gave way to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles seniors and all they had worked for throughout their career at OKWU. Leading the way for the OKWU Eagles, Cody Muncy had a day in the box. Muncy hit 4 homeruns on the day, 3 in the last game. Going 3-3 with 3 homeruns, 2 walks, 4 RBI, and 3 scored runs Muncy set the tone for the entire game. On the mound for the final game, Andrew Grieder and Chase Hux split time, with 7 combined strikeouts, only 3 hits, and 3 earned runs. The OKWU Eagles took the game 16-3 and ended their regular season record at 44-6.
Next up for the Eagles is the KCAC Conference Tournament in Great Bend Kansas starting on May 5th.
