OKWU Wins KCAC Regular Season Championship with Win Over Ottawa

In a battle between two of the hottest teams in the KCAC, the Eagles strong first half was the difference in Saturday's contest. Ottawa came in riding a 10-game winning streak, while the Eagles had won 9 of their last 10 games. OKWU pulled ahead early and never looked back, winning 80-60. With the win, the Eagles clinched the KCAC Regular Season Championship.

Recap:

  • Strong shooting was key for the Eagles early. In the game's first 20 minutes, they shot nearly 55% from the field while holding the Braves to just 30%. At the half, OKWU led 47-33.
  • In the second half, neither team shot the ball particularly well, as the Braves went 8 for 31 in the half and the Eagles just 12 for 34.
  • For the game, OKWU's defense held Ottawa to just 19% from 3-point land.
  • Early in the second half, OKWU led by as many as 26 points.
