Softball Extends Winning Streak by Sweeping Tabor

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Lady Eagles continued their winning ways in Tuesday's KCAC matchup with Tabor, sweeping the day to improve to 8-0 in conference play. Contributions from nearly everyone on the roster gave the Lady Eagles the pair of wins.

Recap – Game 1 (5-2 win):

  • OKWU got on the board early, with 2 runs in the 1st inning. Lindy Alexander and Bailey Zornes each knocked in a run to give OKWU the lead.
  • Tabor responded in the 2nd with a 2-run homer to tie things up. However, they wouldn't have the lead for long. When the Lady Eagles came up to bat, Tahlor Stefek hit a single that scored a run.
  • The Lady Eagles would add 2 more runs in the 4th inning. Lindy Alexander earned her second RBI of the day, and Ryleigh Clinton scored Stefek on a single later in the inning.
  • Maddy Wiese earned the win for the Lady Eagles, throwing 7 innings and allowing just 5 hits.

Recap – Game 2 (8-6 win):

  • Offense came in bursts for both teams in the second game of the afternoon. Neither team scored until the 3rd inning, when Tabor was able to put 1 run on the board. When the Lady Eagles were up to bat, they took the lead with 3 straight RBI doubles from Stefek, Alexander, and Clinton. OKWU took a 3-1 lead.
  • Tabor responded in the 4th, tying the game on a 2-run homer from Bejarano.
  • OKWU's trio of Stefek, Alexander (2 RBI in the inning), and Clinton responded immediately, giving the Lady Eagles a 7-3 lead.
  • Tabor did not go away quietly. In the top of the 6th, Mary Yandell hit a 3-run bomb to cut the OKWU lead to 7-6.
  • OKWU added a run in the bottom of the 6th when Lacey Coffman scored and would secure the win in the top of the 7th.
