Baseball Opens Up the 2024 Season with a Bang

Baseball had their season opener on January 28th against the Ecclesia College Lions. After unfortunate weather delays and changes of schedule, the Eagles changed their season opener from a 3-game series with the Lions to a 2 game series on Sunday, the 28th. Looking to start the 2024 season off on a strong note, the Eagles looked to showcase all their hard work up to this point. Sweeping the Lions, the Eagles started season off 2-0 and held momentum with their many upcoming events.

 

Game 1 v. Ecclesia (W 13-3)

With the first pitch, the Eagles were quick to get on base and explode offensively. Scoring 4 runs in the first inning enabled the Eagles to jump ahead quickly and carry momentum throughout the next 6 innings. Having their best innings offensively in the first and the seventh, the Eagles took the game from the Lions 13-3 in run rule fashion. Josh Logan lead the Eagles in the box, going 3-4 with 1 RBI and 1 walk. Caden Azlin was also strong in the box for the Eagles, going 2-3 with 2 walks and 2 RBIs. On the bump for the Eagles, 5 different Eagles pushed through 7 innings in order to limit the Lions to 3 runs scored, 2 runs earned, and only 6 hits. Evan Foor was strong for the Eagles, through his 2 innings on the mound, Foor struck out 3, gave up no hits, and kept the Lions scoreless.

 

Game 2 v. Ecclesia (W 7-2)

Starting off game two the same way they began game 1, the Eagles were able to jump on the board quickly with a 3 run first inning. Having their best inning in the 3rd, the Eagles were able to push the score to 7 with 4 runs scored in the 3rd. Ravaughn Morgan and Victor Sanchez were both solid offensively for the Eagles, both going 3-2 and scoring a combined 3 runs. Starting out the game on the bump for the Eagles, Matthew Atencio held the Lions for two innings, making way for 7 more Eagles to see mound time. Taking the game 7-2, the Eagles were able to sweep the Lions.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS
The Eagles start a 7-day trip to Florida this upcoming Thursday to face off against 3 different Florida teams throughout the week.
