Dallas, TX –

The weekend of February 10th Women's Softball was on the road for the SCS NAIA Invitational in Dallas, Texas. Looking to face off against four different opponents, the Lady Eagles were exciting to get back on the field after a 4-0 opening previous weekend. Looking to build off of their stellar start, the Lady Eagles looked to face MACU and SAGU on Friday and Southwestern Christian and USAO on Saturday. The Lady Eagles were 1-3 on the weekend after a competitive weekend in Dallas, Texas.

Game 1 v. MACU (L 6-2)

A 0-0 ball game until the 2nd, the Mid-America Christian Evangel were the first to score; having themselves a 2 run second inning off of 2 hits and 2 errors from the Lady Eagles. Trailing 2-0, the Lady Eagles gave up 3 more runs to the Lady Evangels in the 3rd innings, making it a 5-0 deficit. In attempt to fight back, the Lady Eagles scored 2 runs in the 3rd from a 2-run homer off the bat of Jewell Caudle. Thus being their only scoring play, the Lady Eagles ended the 7 inning game trailing 6-2 to the Lady Evangels; giving them their first loss of the season.

Game 2 v. SAGU (L 2-0)

Looking to bounce back after the loss to MACU, the Lady Eagles were quick to the pitch against SAGU. Looking defensively strong behind the arm of Teri Stanton, Stanton was able to keep the Lions off the board in her 4 innings of work. Scoreless until the 5th, both teams looked to string together hits in order to get on the board first. With SAGU up to bat, they were the first to score, making it a 1-0 ball game heading into the 6th. Still scoreless from the Lady Eagles in the 7th, and back to back scoring innings from the SAGU Lady Lions the Lady Eagles had their backs up against the wall. Falling 2-0 to the Lady Lions, the Lady Eagles end their day 0-2 with Saturday to come.

Game 3 v. Southwestern Christian (W 5-2)

Trying to find a new groove after the day prior, the Lady Eagles switched things up and looked to find momentum with 2 games left in the invitational. First to score in the match-up, the Lady Eagles were able to score 2 in the 3rd innings, giving them the lead and the energy, they needed. A quick turnaround allowed the Lady Eagles to score two more runs in the 4th innings and another in the 6th, while SCU was only able to score two in the 5th. With an RBI from 5 different Lady Eagles, the 5-2 win over SCU was truly a team effort. Along with a stout offense, Maddy Wiese and Saige Smith combined for the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles, with 2 earned runs and 5 strikeouts. This being their first win on the weekend, the Lady Eagles found momentum with a huge match-up coming up next.

Game 4 v. USAO (L 14-0)

After a win over SCU, the Lady Eagles were set to face off against the highly competitive University of Science and Arts Lady Drovers. The Lady Eagles were scoreless through the five innings of play, giving way to an explosive game from the Lady Drovers with 14 earned runs from their lineup. With only 1 hit from Jewell Caudle in the 3rd innings, the Lady Eagles were unable to get on the board against the Lady Drovers pitchers who accumulated 12 strikeouts. Taking the loss on the mound, Saige Smith threw 3 innings and gave up 11 earned runs.
