Box Score Lake Wales, FL –
The Baseball team was on the road on February 6th for an early season match-up against the Warner University (FL) Lions! Coming off of a series win over the New College of Florida, the Eagles looked to settle in against the Lions as they looked ahead to an even bigger series against the SEU later on in the week.
With a 6PM first pitch in Lake Wales, the Eagles were set to go and were in the box first. The Eagles send their first five batters up to bat and were unable to score, giving way to a 1run first inning for the Lions. The Lions were quick to score against the Eagles as they jumped ahead quickly over the Eagles 5-0 through the first 4 innings. Heading into the 5th inning trailing 5-0, the Eagles needed a spark in order to get the offense rolling.
Starting off the 5th with a single to center from Victor Sanchez did just that, driving in the first 2 runs for the Eagles and gaining energy. The hits continued in the 5th with a followed up 3-run homerun from Josh Logan in order to snap the lead and tie the game 5-5. With a 5-5 game, the Eagles hit the field in hopes to keep the Lions off the field, until the Lions strung together multiples hits and 4 runs to regain the lead 9-5. Fighting back for the remainder of the game, the Eagles were able to score 3 more runs throughout the 4 innings, ending the game 8-9 in favor of the Lions.
Leading the Eagles in the box, Ravaughn Morgan went 3-4 and scored to runs; while Victor Sanchez drove in 3 runs off of 2 hits. Michael Miller took the loss on the mound for the Eagles, while 8 different Eagles faced mound time against the Lions.
