Baseball Splits with Tabor

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Bartlesville, OK –

OKWU Baseball was set to play a big mid-week doubleheader against the Tabor College Bluejays on Tuesday, March 12th. Coming into the game, OKWU was #1 in the KCAC rankings with Tabor only two games behind them in second place. These games would be a very important series for both teams.

Game 1

Tabor got on the board early with a 2-run homerun in the first inning, but the Eagles quickly responded with a leadoff homerun by Ravaughn Morgan to cut the scoring to 2-1. However, the Bluejays added 4 more in the second inning, making the score 6-1.

The Eagles offense found some life in the 3rd inning with a sac fly by Blake Tablazon, scoring Jorge Aldrete. A few pitches later, Javier Marcial hit a 2-run bomb to center field, cutting the scoring to 6-4. The Bluejays kept adding to their lead, scoring another in the 4th and two more runs in the 6th.

The Eagles didn't score again until the 7th inning with an RBI double from Blake Tablazon and another 2-run homerun by Javier Marcial, his second on the day.

On the defensive side, Hunter Hansen and Braydon Schiess combined for 3.1 innings with no earned runs and only giving up one hit, keeping the Tabor offense in check. Unfortunately, the Eagle's offense was unable to continue adding on, falling to Tabor 9-7.

Game 2

After a frustrating loss, the Eagles knew they would have to win this game to stay in first in the KCAC. After the Bluejays scored a run in the first inning, the Eagles responded with a Victor Sanchez home run that went a long way to left field.

Tabor would regain the lead in the second and extend their lead in the top of the 5th to make the score 5-1. However, the Eagles responded in the bottom of the 5th with a leadoff homerun by Javier Marciel, his third homerun on the day! A few batters later, Victor Sanchez singled up the middle, scoring Noah Adams and cutting the Tabor lead to 5-3. Tabor managed to add another one in the top of the 6th, extended their lead 6-3.

Down to their final 2 outs, Brendan Poindexter sparked the Eagle's offense with a pinch-hit hit-by-pitch. One batter later, Ravaughn Morgan hit a clutch 2-run homerun to right field to make the score 6-5. Morgan's homerun in the bottom of the 7th would also be his second homerun on the day.

One pitch later, Victor Sanchez singled, followed with another single by Jorge Aldrete. With 1 out and runners on second and third base, Tabor intentionally walked Josh Logan. After getting an out with the bases loaded, red-hot Javier Marcial came to the plate. After going down 0-2, Marcial hit an off-balance double to center field, scoring the winning run and walking it off for the Eagles 6-7! With their big walk-off win, the Eagles split the day with Tabor and stay in first place in the KCAC.
