Softball Sweeps Kansas Wesleyan University

Bartlesville, Oklahoma –

The OKWU Softball team was home for their first home KCAC double header on March 16th at 2PM. Looking to bounce back after a split to start KCAC play, the Lady Eagles were eager to get on their home field against the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes.

Game 1 v. KWU (W 6-5)

Starting off on the field, the Lady Eagles gave up 3 quick runs to the Lady Coyotes, making it a 3-0 game in favor of the Lady Coyotes after the first inning. The Lady Coyotes were able to score another run in the 3rd, making it a 4-0 game heading into the 4th. This was a huge inning for the Lady Eagles, scoring 6 runs in the 4th led by Regan Rector with 3 of the Lady Eagles 6 RBIs. With this being the only scoring opportunity from the Lady Eagles, while the Lady Coyotes were able to push 1 more run across in the 5th. Ending the 7th 6-5 in favor of the Lady Eagles, they were able to secure their 3rd conference win and head into the second game with security.

Reagan Rector led the Lady Eagles in the box, going 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and a walk. Saige Smith earned the win in the circle for the Lady Eagles, throwing 7 innings and striking out 8.

Game 2 v. KWU (W 5-3)

With momentum on their side, the Lady Eagles hit the field for their final game on the day against the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. Scoring first, the lady Eagles were able to push 2 runs across in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd. The Lady Coyotes didn't give up there, as they had two back to back scoring innings in order to tie up the game 3-3 heading into the 6th. With two innings to go, the Lady Eagles had to string something together in order to earn another win, doing just that they pushed two more runs across in the 6th and secured the lead, winning the game 5-3.

Regan Rector and Brooklyn Purtell led the Lady Eagles in the box, both pushing a run across for the Lady Eagles in order to regain the lead from the Lady Coyotes. Maddy Wiese added a win to her totals for her time in the circle, through 7 innings, Wiese only allowed 7 hits, 3 runs, and struck out 4.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The Lady Eagles hit the road this upcoming Monday for a double header against Baptist Bible College.
