Bartlesville, OK –
The Lady Eagles were hoping to regain some momentum in KCAC play as they faced the Tabor College Bluejays for a double header on Saturday, April 13
th.
Game 1
The Bluejays jumped ahead early in the top of the 1
st 1-0, but the Lady Eagles quickly responded with an RBI single by
Jess Watson, followed by a 3-run homerun by
Maddy Wiese, her third on the year.
The Lady Eagles continued to add on in the bottom of the 2
nd thanks to back-to-back RBI hits from
Abby Huie and Reagan Rector, capped by another RBI from
Maddy Wiese to improve the scoring to 1-7.
After a few couple scoreless innings, the Lady Eagles added on two more runs in the bottom of the 5
th with an RBI double from
Kelly Baker and a RBI by Brooklyn Purtell to secure the run-rule with a score of 1-9.
Maddy Wiese was excellent in the circle for the Lady Eagles. Wiese threw 5 complete innings, giving up only 1 run on 6 hits, on top of having 4 RBIs!
Game 2
The Bluejays once again scored in the top of the 1
st from a few hits, giving them an early 2-0 lead. After giving up a couple runs in the first,
Saige Smith settled in, giving up a total of 2 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out an impressive 9 batters!
The Lady Eagles struggled to get things going offensively for the first few innings, but managed to squeeze in a run in the 4
th thanks to an RBI from
Kelly Baker. The Bluejays quickly responded by adding on another run, extending their lead 3-1.
The Lady Eagle's offense began to pick up some momentum in the 5
th thanks to 6 hits and 5 runs, with RBIs from Reagan Rector,
Jess Watson,
Maddy Wiese, Lauren Neff, and
Kami Withem. Thanks to their big inning, the Lady Eagles took their first lead of the game with a score of 3-6 and never looked back. They improved to 30-13 (13-7 KCAC) with their sweep over the Tabor College Bluejays.
