The Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team opened conference play at home this weekend, taking the series over Bethany behind strong pitching and consistent offense across the first two games, with the finale played Monday afternoon.
Game 1
The Eagles came out hot in Sunday's opener, putting together a big offensive performance in an 11–1 win over the Swedes. Oklahoma Wesleyan finished with 17 hits and applied pressure throughout the afternoon.
Luis Antigua set the tone at the top of the lineup, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while scoring three runs and swiping three bases. Brenden Poindexter powered the offense with two home runs and four RBIs, while Braydon Caldwell added a two-run homer and finished with two RBIs of his own.
JT Maloney recorded three hits and drove in a run, and Jose Parreno added a multi-hit performance with an RBI. Wally Diaz also drove in a run as the Eagles continued to find production throughout the lineup.
On the mound, Austin Stephenson earned the win after delivering six strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits while keeping Bethany off balance. Oklahoma Wesleyan stayed in control from the first inning through the final out to take the conference opener.
Game 2
The Eagles followed with another strong showing in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, earning a 3–0 shutout win behind dominant pitching.
Oklahoma Wesleyan struck early with all three runs coming in the first inning. Wally Diaz provided the big swing with a two-run home run, and JT Maloney added an RBI to give the Eagles an early lead they would not surrender.
The pitching staff took care of the rest. Ashton Luera delivered a dominant start, tossing five hitless innings while striking out 11. Alex Garcia came on in relief and finished the shutout to secure the doubleheader sweep for Oklahoma Wesleyan.
Game 3
Oklahoma Wesleyan completed the series win Monday afternoon with a 14–2 victory over Bethany. The Eagles used a big fifth inning to break the game open and never looked back.
The Eagles struck first in the opening inning as JT Maloney delivered an RBI single before Angel Quiles followed with a two-run base hit to give Oklahoma Wesleyan an early 3–0 lead.
Oklahoma Wesleyan added eight runs in the fifth inning to pull away. Brenden Poindexter highlighted the frame with a three-run home run, while Angel Quiles drove in three runs on the day and Dylan Manzanilla added an RBI single. JT Maloney and Jose Parreno also recorded RBIs as the Eagles continued to build their lead.
Dylan Bailey provided a spark off the bench with a two-RBI single in the sixth, helping Oklahoma Wesleyan extend the advantage.
On the mound, Justin Morgan earned the win after tossing 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. The Eagles' pitching staff combined to limit Bethany to two runs and three hits in the finale.
Oklahoma Wesleyan finished the series with momentum on both sides of the ball, opening KCAC play with a strong showing and securing the conference-opening series victory at home.
