Weekend Recap: OKWU Drops 2 to KCAC Opponents
As the men's tennis season ramps up into conference play, the Eagles look to start fast. After a busy nonconference slate of games, they are focused in on their KCAC opponents. Over the weekend, OKWU faced two KCAC foes, Kansas Wesleyan and Tabor. The Eagles fell short in both matches.
Recap vs KWU (0-7 loss):
- Facing off against one of the better teams in the conference, the Eagles had their hands full in Friday's matchup with Kansas Wesleyan.
- Jose Catala was defeated by Daniel Harkin, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in the closest singles matchup of the day.
- On the doubles side, Jose Catala and Jorge Catala fell to Harkin/Sherer 6-3.
Recap vs Tabor (3-4 loss):
- On Saturday the Eagles hosted Tabor. The Eagles fared better against the Jays but ultimately were beaten 4-3.
- In the singles matchups, Jose Catala defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-4 to get the win for the Eagles.
- Clement Martin won his matchup 7-6, 6-3.
- Jorge Catala defeated JP Fort 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to give the Eagles their third victory.
- In what was the clinching match, Logan Reece fell 6-3, 6-7 (9-7 tiebreaker), and 4-6.
- Tabor took two of three in the doubles matchups to earn the edge.
