OKWU Tennis Heads to JBU for Final Fall Match-Up

Mens & Women's Tennis

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Tennis will wrap up its fall schedule on Saturday, October 24, when the Eagles travel to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, for a dual match against John Brown University. Following a fall slate that included the Texas Wesleyan Ram Invite, KCAC Fall Individual Championships, and ITA Regionals, both OKWU teams will return to a dual-match setting with an opportunity to finish the fall together on a strong note.
The matchup will provide a competitive checkpoint after several weeks of practices and conditioning. With singles and doubles results contributing toward a team outcome, the Eagles will look to translate their individual development into a complete performance before shifting their attention toward spring preparation.

Women's Tennis

The OKWU women head into the fall finale following several notable performances during tournament competition. At the KCAC Fall Individual Championships, the Eagles collected four singles titles through Jewel Henderson, Océane Frendjian, Yelena Sanchez, and Nancy Henderson. The team also earned doubles championships through Rocio Espinal and Jewel Henderson, along with Sanchez and Nancy Henderson, while Frendjian and Madeline Henderson added a third-place doubles finish.
Those results demonstrated the depth of the women's lineup, with contributions across multiple flights in both singles and doubles. Espinal also advanced to the semifinals at ITA Regionals, adding another highlight to the Eagles' fall campaign.
Saturday's contest offers an opportunity to bring those individual performances together. Doubles communication, movement, and execution will be key areas of emphasis as OKWU looks to establish early momentum. In singles, the Eagles will aim to compete consistently throughout the lineup, manage momentum changes, and capitalize on opportunities in close games.

Looking ahead to the Spring schedule... The meeting with John Brown will also help the women assess the progress made during their recent training block. Competing in a dual-match environment provides a chance to reinforce team support and match-day routines while identifying priorities for the months leading into the spring season.

Men's Tennis

The OKWU men will also look to build on a productive fall tournament schedule as they prepare to face John Brown. The Eagles earned five podium finishes at the KCAC Fall Individual Championships, highlighted by Helori Peron's singles title and his doubles championship alongside Raphael Alvado. Andy Seidel, Yassine Azehaf, and Alvado each added third-place finishes in their respective singles flights.
Seidel followed that tournament with a semifinal appearance at ITA Regionals, giving the men another strong individual result during the fall. Saturday's dual will offer the Eagles a chance to channel that tournament experience into a shared team effort.
Against John Brown, OKWU will look to establish energy and coordination in doubles before carrying that intensity into singles. The transition from individual draws to a dual match places added importance on each court, with every player having an opportunity to contribute to the team's result.

The contest will serve as a final opportunity this fall to evaluate competitive execution, composure, and consistency against outside opposition. Following the matchup, the men will continue their development through practices and conditioning, using the lessons from the fall schedule to guide their preparation for spring competition.

For both squads, Saturday represents an opportunity to close the fall with purpose, compete for one another, and carry valuable experience into the next phase of the season.
