Bartlesville, OK –
On Tuesday, November 7th, OKWU Tennis recognized three seniors for their dedication, commitment, effort, and energy to the program. Richard Hoyte and Diego Navarro were honored for their year and a half playing as Eagles, and team captain Adam Spencer received special honors for his two-and-a-half-year commitment to the Eagles.
The ceremony started at 1:45 PM before the beginning of the Match against John Brown University. Coach Mongin recognized her three players and expressed her gratefulness to have such great players as a part of OKWU Tennis. These seniors will be missed and OKWU Tennis wishes them all the best for their future.
On the women's side, the Lady Eagles lost 7/0 for their first ever dual match in program history.
Additionally, this match represents the first ever collegiate tennis match for Kylie, Aliza, and Natalia. Coach Mongin expressed that the energy, intensity, and drive for her players were a great sign for the future of the Lady Eagles. Nikoleta Aleksic continues to develop her skills as a Lady Eagle with playing in the #1 single and doubles after the individual tournaments in September.
On the men's side, the Eagles suffered a tough loss after a long battle. After a long fight, the Eagles took the doubles point by winning #2 and #3 with a 6/3 score. Moving on to the singles, the Eagles needed three points to take the victory over a very competitive line-up from John Brown University. Unfortunately, the Eagle picked up two victories on spots #3 and #4 over the six singles played. Falling short 4/3, the Eagles suffered their first loss of the season in their last matchup for the fall semester.
The OKWU Tennis schedule for Spring will be announced soon as both teams are going back to work to improve their craft in preparation of the 2024 season.
