Oklahoma Wesleyan Men’s Basketball Climbs to No. 3 in Latest NAIA Poll

BARTLESVILLE, OK—
The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles continue their impressive 2025–26 campaign, soaring into the national spotlight as they rise to No. 3 in this week's NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. With a commanding 19–2 overall record and a strong 9–1 KCAC record, the Eagles have firmly established themselves as one of the premier programs in the country.
This ranking marks another significant milestone for a team that has steadily built momentum throughout the season. Oklahoma Wesleyan's consistency, defensive identity, and disciplined style of play have been central to their climb up the national leaderboard.
NAIA Praises the Eagles' Discipline and Grit
In its breakdown of this week's poll, the NAIA highlighted Oklahoma Wesleyan's rise, praising the Eagles for their execution and toughness:
"The Eagles are on the rise again and back up to No. 3 this week. OKWU isn't soaring through opponents, but they are picking up wins by taking care of the rock for a full 40 minutes. Oklahoma Wesleyan is posting a -5.5 turnover margin since Jan. 14, and while not sporting a huge rebound difference at 0.8, they are picking up 3.0 more steals per game than opponents during the same time. Temaje Izuagbe leads the team over the four games played since the release of the fourth coaches' top 25 poll, averaging 21.8 points per game."
The Eagles have showcased their ability to control the pace of play, protect the basketball, and win the possession battle since Game 1. Even without overwhelming rebound numbers, Oklahoma Wesleyan's defensive pressure and ability to generate turnovers have kept opponents off balance.
A Team Built for March
With only two losses on the season and the third-best national ranking to show for their efforts, Oklahoma Wesleyan looks poised for a deep postseason run. Their disciplined style, veteran playmakers, and commitment to defense make them a team no one wants to face as tournament time approaches.

For now, the Eagles will look to build on their No. 3 ranking and finish out conference play strong, as they continue their pursuit of both a KCAC title and a national championship berth.
