Ozark, MO —
The Oklahoma Wesleyan University beach volleyball team traveled to Ozark, Missouri, on Saturday to compete against Southwest Baptist University and Ottawa University at Ozark Volleyball Beach. The event was played inside the facility's unique sand courts located beneath a large inflatable dome. The Lady Eagles finished the day with a strong 3–1 record, improving their overall record to 8–6 as they head into spring break.
Oklahoma Wesleyan opened the day with an 8 a.m. dual against Southwest Baptist University. The Lady Eagles battled in a tightly contested matchup but ultimately fell 3–2. Oklahoma Wesleyan picked up flight wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions, with Sydney Collins and Jordan Isbell earning the victory at the top flight while Gracie Layton and Anneliese Schonauer secured the win at the No. 5 flight.
OKWU responded quickly in their second dual of the day against Ottawa University at 10 a.m. The Lady Eagles secured a convincing 4–1 victory. Ottawa's only flight win came at the No. 1 position where Maddy McKinney and Avery Forman battled through a tight three-set contest before narrowly falling.
Oklahoma Wesleyan returned to face Southwest Baptist later in the day and earned redemption with a 3–2 victory. The win marked a historic moment for the program as it was the Lady Eagles' first victory over a Division II opponent.
The Lady Eagles closed out the day with another matchup against Ottawa University, finishing the event in dominant fashion with a 5–0 sweep of the Braves.
Southwest Baptist also took time during the event to recognize Oklahoma Wesleyan's four seniors Sydney Collins, Maddy McKinney, Avery Forman, and Valeria Perez for their contributions to the program during their collegiate careers. The Lady Eagles will officially celebrate their seniors again on Senior Day March 28 in Lewisville.
With the strong showing in Ozark, Oklahoma Wesleyan carries momentum into the break as the Lady Eagles sit at 8–6 overall on the season.
