Lewisville, TX —
Oklahoma Wesleyan beach volleyball traveled to Lewisville, Texas, on Friday and Saturday to compete at The Strand, hosted by RV Texas Wesleyan University. The Lady Eagles, who are currently receiving votes in the NAIA national poll, put together a strong weekend and improved to 9-6 overall.
OKWU opened play on Friday with a pair of 5-0 sweeps over Central Wyoming College and Trinidad State. The Lady Eagles controlled both matchups from start to finish, picking up straight-set wins across all five flights in each contest.
On Saturday, Oklahoma Wesleyan faced Trinidad State for the second time and once again came out on top, dropping just one flight in a 4-1 victory. The Lady Eagles then turned their attention to the host team, Texas Wesleyan, the only NAIA opponent of the weekend. In a tightly contested matchup, OKWU secured a 3-2 win to close out the weekend.
Prior to the final dual, Oklahoma Wesleyan recognized its four seniors: Maddy McKinney, Valeria Perez, Sydney Collins, and Avery Forman. The group has played a key role in the continued growth of the program and has made a lasting impact during their time as Lady Eagles.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will close out its regular season this week, traveling to Belton, Texas, for matches at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday and Friday.
