LADY EAGLES SEASON ENDS IN SILOAM SPRINGS

On Saturday, April 17th, the #10 seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles were in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to take on the #11 seeded John Brown University Lady Golden Eagles. The two teams did not meet during the regular season this year and were both looking for a win in order to advance further into the national tournament in Foley, Alabama.

The Lady Golden Eagles started the game quickly by scoring a goal just before the six-minute mark in the first period. The goal came courtesy of Gifte Pavatt (5:56). After the early goal, neither side seemed to be able to gain an edge on the other. The Lady Eagles were able to get the equalizing goal in the 31st minute of the game. The goal came from Marjolen Nekesa (31:49). The two teams ended the half with a score of 1-1. The OKWU Lady Eagles would outshoot the Lady Golden Eagles in the first half 9-5 (SOG 2-1).

Coming out for the second half, both teams would try to find a way to edge a goal out over the other. The Lady Golden Eagles would be able to find the advantage with a goal at the midway point of the second half. The eventual game winner would come from Lauren Walter (77:43). The Lady Eagles would not be deterred and would try to fight back to find the equalizer; however, the could not find a way to get an equalizing goal and would find their season ending shorter than expected. During the match, the Lady Eagles would outshoot the Lady Golden Eagles 17-15 (SOG 7-7).

The Lady Eagles finish their season as KCAC regular season and tournament champions with a 18-3 overall record, 11-0 in conference play. OKWU's Marjolen Nekesa ends the season ranked #1 in Division 1 in: goals (36), assists (19), and goals per game (1.7). She is also ranked #2 in total game winning goals (7).
