The Eagles Lose Series Against Tabor College in a Tight KCAC Matchup

Game 1: Eagles Rally Late but Drop Series Opener to Tabor, 11-7 

BARTLESVILLE, OK —  

Despite a powerful late-game push, OKWU fell 11–7 to Tabor College on Friday afternoon at in Game 1 

Tabor struck early, scoring twice in the opening inning and adding two more in the third to build a 4-0 lead. The Bluejays extended their advantage with a four-run fourth inning, capitalizing on a pair of OKWU defensive miscues to make it 8-0.  

The Eagles responded in the bottom of the fourth when A. Quiles ignited the offense with a two-run double before later scoring on a groundout, trimming the deficit to 8-3. A. Quiles continued his standout day with a solo home run in the seventh, part of a three-run inning that brought OKWU within striking distance at 10-7.  

Quiles finished the afternoon with a team-high four RBIs, going 2-for-4 with a double and a homer. J. Maloney added two hits, including a run-scoring triple in the seventh, while D. Manzanillo scored twice and recorded an RBI double. J. Parreno also turned in a strong performance with three hits.  

On the mound, starter A. Stephenson took the loss after allowing four early runs. G. Florio provided key relief work, striking out eight across 4.1 innings.  

With the loss, The Eagles moves to 12-6 on the season. The Eagles look to bounce back in Saturday's doubleheader as they continue the series against Tabor. 

Game 2: Eagles Flip the Script and Erupt for 11-7 Win to Even Series with Tabor in Game 2 

BARTLESVILLE, OK —  

Eagles baseball answered back in a big way on Saturday, overcoming an early six-run deficit to defeat Tabor College 11–7 at Silver Lake Field, leveling the three-game series at one win apiece. 

Tabor opened the game with a dominant first inning, plating six runs highlighted by a three-run homer. But the Eagles wasted no time responding. In the bottom half, D. Manzanillo launched a three-run homer to bring OKWU right back into the fight, followed by an RBI from J. Parreno that cut the deficit to 6-4 after one inning.  

OKWU continued its momentum in the second, tying the game 6-6 on a two-run single from G. Morales. The Eagles pulled ahead in the fourth inning when J. Maloney reached on an error that allowed Manzanillo to score, giving OKWU its first lead at 7-6. The bluejays answered back hitting a solo home run to tie the game at 7-7 but the Eagles did not waiver. In the sixth, J. Maloney responded with a solo homer of his own to reclaim the lead, sparking a four-run rally. J. Ramirez delivered the biggest swing of the inning, ripping a two-RBI double to extend the advantage to 10-7.  

From there, OKWU's pitching took over. After a shaky start, reliever Alex Garcia dominated in relief, throwing 7.2 innings and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out two.  

The Eagles added insurance in the eighth when L. Antigua belted a solo home run, pushing the lead to 11-7 and sealing the comeback victory. L. Antigua finished 2-for-5 with two runs and a homer, while Manzanillo drove in three runs, and Quiles reached base four times. 

With the win, OKWU improves to 13-6 on the season. 

Game 3: Eagles Edged 4-3 in Pitching Duel as Tabor Takes Series Finale 

BARTLESVILLE, OK —  

The Eagles came up just short in a tightly contested Game 3 on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 to Tabor in the series finale. Despite a strong start and several late opportunities, the Eagles couldn't comeback, dropping the weekend set two games to one.  

OKWU opened the scoring in the first when W. Diaz reached on an error and later scored on a double by J. Maloney, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Tabor answered back quickly in the second, scoring twice on an RBI single and another run-scoring single to pull ahead 2-1. 

The Eagles tied the game 2-2 in the bottom half on a productive groundout by catcher B. Caldwell, but offense remained limited on both sides through the middle innings. In the fifth, Tabor broke through again with a singled, and a two-run homer to right, putting the Bluejays ahead 4-2.  

W. Diaz brought OKWU back within striking distance in the bottom of the fifth, launching a solo home run to make it 4-3. But that would be the final run the Eagles could earn.  

On the mound, starter A. Luera tallied his first loss of the season despite a solid outing, allowing three earned runs over five innings while striking out six. Reliever J. Stangl performed well in two innings of relief, yielding just one hit and no runs.  

Offensively, OKWU recorded only four hits in the game. G. Morales, J. Maloney, W. Diaz, and L. Antigua each collected one hit, while J. Parreno added a stolen base.  

The loss drops Oklahoma Wesleyan to 13–7 on the season. The Eagles will look to regroup as they return to action next week in KCAC play.
