Box Score 4 Bartlesville, OK –
The OKWU Softball team was back in Bartlesville to face Peru State College in a 4-game series on March 7-9th.
Game 1
Maddy Wiese took the circle for the first game of the series for the Lady Eagles. Wiese threw 4.1 innings with 3 earned runs and 6 strikeouts. Teri Stanton relieved Wiese in the 5th inning and only gave up 1 run in her 2.2 innings pitched.
Wiese started the scoring off early with a 2-out single in the first inning, scoring Jewell Caudle to give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead. The offense slowed down until the 5th inning, where the Lady Eagles managed to put up 5 runs, sparked by an RBI walk from Abby Huie. After getting 2 outs, Kelly Baker came up clutch with a single that scored 2 runs, improving the score to 4-2. Jamie Keeling then followed up with an RBI double, and Carley Billings reached on an error, improving to a 6-2 lead. The Lady Eagles would hold on and win the first game of the series 6-3.
Game 2
After a few minutes into game 2, the Lady Eagles were forced to play the rest of the game the next day on Friday, March 8th because of rain and lightning. Peru State got on top early with a 2-0 lead in the first inning and extended to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Lady Eagles tried to respond in the bottom of the fourth, but only managed to add on 2 runs to bring the game within a couple runs. Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles were not able to add on, resulting in a 4-2 loss. Saige Smith pitched a complete game with 2 earned runs while striking out 8 batters.
Game 3
The Lady Eagles started off the third game of the series with a bang, putting up 5 runs in the first inning. Abby Huie got the scoring started off with an RBI double, scoring Carley Billings, followed by an RBI single by Jewell Caudle. After Maddy Wiese walked, Jess Watson and Reagan Rector had back-to-back hits, scoring 2 more runs in the first inning. The Lady Eagles picked up right where they left off and added 4 more runs in the second inning, thanks to RBIs from Abby Huie, Jewell Caudle, and Jess Watson. Maddy Wiese was excellent in the circle, pitching 5 innings and only gave up 1 run while striking out 4. The Lady Eagles would end up adding a few more runs, leading to a 13-1 run-rule win.
Game 4
The final game of the series was played on Saturday, March 9th with Sage Smith back in the circle. Smith was dominant in her 6 innings, only giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7. The Lady Eagles added on 4 runs between the third and fourth inning thanks to RBIs from Kelly Baker and Jamie Keeling, and a 2-RBI double from Jewell Caudle to improve the scoring to 4-0. The Lady Eagles would add another run in the 5th, leading to a 5-1 win.

The Lady Eagles are looking forward to their doubleheader on Tuesday, March 12th as they start KCAC play against the University of Saint Mary in Leavensworth, KS.
